About

Hello, and welcome to The Inquisitive OT!

I am choosing to remain anonymous, but let me tell you a bit about myself 🙂

I graduated with my Master’s of Occupational Therapy in 2022. I have worked solely in pediatrics (fieldwork included), particularly outpatient and school-based. I have many thoughts and questions…….

So let me give you my vision for this website.

I’m a big believer in the need for discussion, debate, and sharing of ideas and resources…especially in the very broad field of OT.

I want this to be a space for all of that to occur.

I have personally experienced a lot of frustration in this field so far. Mentors telling me different things about what is evidence-based and what isn’t. Lack of research in general. Lack of boundaries and feeling like I’m supposed to do everything, yet also feeling equipped to do nothing (“Jack of all trades, master of nothing” vibe). And I know too many people, new-grad and seasoned, who feel exactly the same way. I think our field needs to have some open and honest conversations about who we are, what we should be aiming for, and how we want to get there.

Maybe you’re a confused little new-grad like me and have some great mentors (or no mentors), but still feel like you need more because you’re so darn confused about the field you just put a lot of time and money into.

Welcome!!

Maybe you have a few years under your belt and finally feel like you’re figuring this field out and know what you’re doing. Or maybe you’re a few years in and still feel like you’re at square 1.

Welcome!!

Maybe you have many years of experience and went through this same journey, and feel so confident and passionate about what you do.

Welcome!!

And maybe you’re that person who’s never once doubted or felt confused about OT, and you’ve been riding the sunshine-y butterfly high for some time. How magical that must be for you.

Welcome!!

Here is a place to learn. To share your knowledge and experiences. To play Devil’s Advocate. To question your long-held beliefs and maybe your tendency to stay stuck in your ways.

While this site is primarily focused on topics relating to pediatrics, occupational therapists in all practice settings are welcome and may find the content worth reading.

Whatever setting you work in, I hope you enjoy this site!

Love,

The Inquisitive OT
